My poem, “The Animal Inside,” was published in California Quarterly, Volume 42, Issue 4. For any of you not familiar with this magazine, I urge you to check it out. Exquisite covers, always, and excellent poems. Mine is a particularly “tough” one — I worked with editor Pearl Karrar on it. There is real art in the way Pearl has arranged the poems in terms of subject matter and sensibility. Here’s a brief sample of the poem:
